The Shape is the result of extensive studies of the mouth and teeth in relation to open and closed positions of the teeth assumed by athletes while taking part in sporting activities. Protexsmile's shape guarantees ideal stability and protection. The Material used in the production is a thermoplastic polymer EVA (Ethylene-vinyl-acetate), tasteless and physiologically safe, recommended by sports dentists as the ideal material for professional mouthguards. It is resilient, highly tear resistant and can absorb shock waves notably reducing the risk of dental injury to an athlete. The VDC System (Vertical Dimension Control) is the heart of the Protexsmile. It makes personalising the mouthguard simple by controlling the correct closure of the teeth, thus ensuring an ideal thickness of the occlusal "cushion". This cushion between the teeth is indispensable in the protection and absorption of shock from direct hits to the jaw and chin.
